Why Today?

On the Ides of March, 44BC, Julius Caesar was assassinated. Per historical accounts, he was warned by a soothsayer to be on guard through the middle of the month. Shakespeare later dramatized this to the infamous "Beware the Ides of March" warning in the play Julius Caesar.

The film The Ides of March is more allegorical than directly related to this date, but ties in with the themes of figurative backstabbing, treachery, and moral complexities of politics.
