Synopsis

Miracle is a sports drama movie that recounts the true story of the 1980 United States men's ice hockey team, led by coach Herb Brooks (portrayed by Kurt Russell), as they prepare for and compete in the Winter Olympics in Lake Placid. Against all odds, the team, comprised mostly of amateur and college players, goes head-to-head with the dominant Soviet Union team and achieves an unforgettable victory.

Why Today?

On February 22, 1980, the United States and the Soviet Union hockey teams faced off during the 1980 Winter Olympics. The Soviet team was heavily favored, having won gold medals in the previous 4 Olympics. The surprise victory by the U.S. team became an iconic moment in Olympic and sports history, immortalized by the Al Michaels "Do you believe in miracles? YES!" television call.
