Synopsis

Breach is a spy thriller based on true events, following FBI agent Eric O'Neill (played by Ryan Phillippe) as he is assigned to work undercover to expose and bring down Robert Hanssen (played by Chris Cooper), a senior FBI agent suspected of being a long-time mole for the Soviet Union and later Russia. As O'Neill delves deeper into Hanssen's life, he finds himself in a dangerous game of cat and mouse, risking his life to uncover the truth and protect national security.

On February 18th, 2001, FBI agent Robert Hanssen was arrested for espionage, having sold US intelligence secrets to the Soviet Union and later Russia over the span of two decades. The Department of Justice described it as 'possibly the worst intelligence disaster in U.S. history'.

Breach, carried by an excellent performance from Chris Cooper, offers a dramatized account of the investigation and apprehension of Hanssen.
