Synopsis

The Untouchables is a crime drama film directed by Brian De Palma, telling the story of Eliot Ness, a Treasury Department agent, and his pursuit of notorious Chicago mobster Al Capone during the Prohibition era. Enlisting the help of a small group of incorruptible lawmen, known as the Untouchables, Ness faces numerous challenges as he battles corruption within the police force and attempts to bring down Capone's criminal empire. The film showcases the cat-and-mouse game between law enforcement and organized crime in 1930s Chicago.

Why Today?

Al Capone was born on January 17th, 1899. Prohibition was also enacted on January 17th, 1920. This makes The Untouchables an interesting pairing with yesterday's One Upon a Time in America.
